The Alarming Increase in Marijuana Use
One of the most concerning aspects of the legalization efforts (resulting from propaganda promoting marijuana as both safe and even medicinal) is the alarming increase in use rates in North America. Here are just a few facts related to increase usage:
1. In contemporary America, the number of daily marijuana users has increased tenfold when compared to marijuana use during the term of our former president who said he did not inhale.[1]
2. “[N]early one in five people who begin marijuana use during adolescence become addicted.”[2]
3. The nation’s highest use rates for marijuana are in states where marijuana has been legalized.[3]
4. In 2005 there were 3 million Americans who used marijuana daily. By 2017, that number nearly tripled to over 8 million.[4]
5. About 7 percent of those who use alcohol do so daily. Among marijuana users, over 20 percent use daily.[5]
Berenson’s Book Outlining the Dangers of Marijuana (and supporting evidence)
Millions of Americans are getting high daily, and doing so with marijuana several times as potent as the marijuana just a few years ago. Look around … this nation is in real trouble. Labor shortages, falling test scores, and increased crime. While we certainly need a sea change in a multitude of areas, the ever-increasing potency, quantity, and use of marijuana is a threat to our societal well-being. And we must continue to do so with truth and facts. The preceding facts are readily available in the books I cited – I cannot recommend these books enough to anyone and everyone – it’s certainly great to oppose the proliferation of marijuana in our community, but arming oneself with the facts is more powerful yet.
